Council–Māori Engagement: The Ongoing Story
LGNZ’s governance manager, Mike Reid, presented the above paper to the inaugural Working with Iwi Conference held on June 2011. The paper concludes that engagement involves a dialogue and to the degree that dialogue is conducted with goodwill by both parties then there is a reasonable chance of arriving at outcomes that will meet both the expectations of Māori and the needs of the community as a whole (SOLGM Bulletin, 2011).
